A patient told their pharmacy that the packaging for their methylprednisolone dosepack, by Greenstone Brand, was incorrect. The words on the foil backing did not line up with the tablets in the pack (Figure 1). The writing was opposite compared to the way the tablets were lined up. Because these words give important instructions for how much medicine to take each day, this mistake could make it confusing and cause someone to take the wrong dose.

Here’s what you can do: If you are given a prescription for methylprednisolone, be sure to check the dosepack when you pick it up at your pharmacy. Before leaving the pharmacy, open the package and take the dosepack out of the box to look at it. Look at the placement of the tablets and the placement of the instructions. Talk to the pharmacist to ensure you know how to take the medicine. This will help you identify any errors with the packaging.
